So, this is exciting. Sheikh Hasina, the ex-prime minister of Bangladesh, is here in Singapore. Her brother was really good friends with my parents when he was alive (he got killed in the '71 war) so she's like an aunt to me. She'll be coming over soon, to meet with some other family friends and have some sorta political discussion. We went over to her place last night and the night before and I swear she is the most humble person I know! She may be a political celebrity, but she still cooked dinner and served us and everything. She's great!! She's so nice, too. I really love her. Anyway, I'm sure everyone has heard of the pretty recent blasts in Dhaka during the Awami League rally. Um, Hasina Khamma's the leader of the Awami League, by the way. Anyway, so she brought over some footage of the blasts and we've got some photos which were taken right on the truck she was on when the grenades went off and everything. It's terrible. There's blood and guts everywhere and everything. Hasina Khamma's cousin, Najib Mama, got a grenade splinter embedded in his chest and another in his leg trying to protect her, and they couldn't get it out. He let us feel it. It's HUGE! Also, Hasina Khamma's right hand man (actually a woman) was her brother-in-law's aunt (Ivy Chachi) and she had just gotten off the truck and had reached out to help Hasina Khamma down, when a photographer called Hasina Khamma back to take a picture on the truck. In that split second, a grenade went off and both Ivy Rahman's legs were blown off and she died soon after. It's horrible, all this terrorist shit. I was crying last night 'cause me and my parents were discussing where we wanna go after my O's and initially I'd said Bangladesh, but then I said I was too scared so forget that. It's a horrible feeling, being scared to go back to your homeland. (So what, I was born here? I'm still Bangladeshi.) It's fucked up.
